CC Spin #32

Hello, Clubbers!

It’s time for another Classics Club Spin!spinning bookWhat is the spin?

It’s easy. At your blog, before next Sunday 11th Decmber, 2022, create a post that lists twenty books of your choice that remain “to be read” on your Classics Club list.

This is your Spin List.

You have to read one of these twenty books by the end of the spin period.

Try to challenge yourself. For example, you could list five Classics Club books you have been putting off, five you can’t WAIT to read, five you are neutral about, and five free choice (favourite author, re-reads, ancients, non-fiction, books in translation — whatever you choose.)

On Sunday 11th, December, we’ll post a number from 1 through 20. The challenge is to read whatever book falls under that number on your Spin List by the 29th January, 2023.

We’ll check in here on Sunday the 29th January, 2023 to see who made it the whole way and finished their spin book!

What’s Next?

  • Go to your blog.
  • Pick twenty books that you’ve got left to read from your Classics Club List.
  • Post that list, numbered 1-20, on your blog before Sunday, 11th December.
  • We’ll announce a number from 1-20.
  • Read that book by 29th January, 2023.

This is meant to be a fun, social way to read another book from your classics club list. We’re very relaxed about how you set it up, we simply want you to read more classics!

Sometime this week, at your blog, you might post something like:

My Book Spin List for the Classics Club –

  1. Jane Eyre
  2. The Inferno
  3. Picnic at Hanging Rock
  4. Oliver Twist
  5. Clarissa
  6. Gone With the Wind
  7. Don Quixote
  8. Testament of Youth
  9. Richard III
  10. The Iliad
  11. Jude the Obscure
  12. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
  13. The Master and Margarita
  14. Dracula
  15. The Home and the World
  16. Sense & Sensibility
  17. Madame Bovary
  18. The Diary of Anne Frank
  19. Antigone
  20. The Tale of Genji

(Obviously, YOU choose what books YOU want to list, in what order.)

Next Sunday?

We will announce a number from 1 through 20. When we announce it, go to your Spin list. Find that number, read (and hopefully, review) the book listed for that number by 29th January 2023.

So, if (for example) we announce #14, and if the above list was your Spin List, you’d have to read Dracula.

The prize, of course, is the reading experience 🙂

When we announce the number next week, come back and tell us your spin title.

Who’s in?

Add the link for your spin list below and join in the discussion.

    1. Diverse list Mike!
For some reason I couldn’t leave a comment on your blog, so here it is!
I will always wish P&P on anyone, but Hundred Years of Solitude is pretty amazing too and of course The Fellowship of the Ring is such a great journey.

      Happy spinning!

    1. Yes we do have an Instagram account Michelle, although I’ve been rather slack about posting regularly this year. Happy to see you there 🙂

I deleted my personal Twitter account too a few months ago. Haven’t missed it at all.

  1. I haven’t participated in months….but since I am creating a NEW Classic Book List for the next 3 years….time to kick-start it with Spin #32. I’ll post the spin-list soon! Thanks for keeping the “classics” spirit alive with this spin event!

  2. Brilliant. I always enjoy this so much and really looking forward to my next classic read.

    Here is my list.

Thanks for organizing this. I must admit, I always participate in this but haven’t managed to list all of my books on your classics page. Sorry.

      1. Thanks, Brona. I only have one more book to read from my initial 50 books and will probably look then which ones I have or haven’t done.
What about newer books, I mean classic ones I add now to my new spins? Should I add them, as well?

        1. I prepare these posts in Australia, so I have just as many issues trying to work out time for scheduled posts to try and suit the various US/UK timezones! One timezone in the whole wide world gets their spin number at exactly the right time, the rest of us catch it when we can 🙂

  3. Sorry I’ll have to skip this one, my reading schedule is full this month, and the beginning of January is super busy here. But anyway, I’m doing really well with my classics: I started my 4th list (150 titles) in September, and I have already read 26 of them

  4. Great timing – I normally settle down with a big chunky classic over the Christmas break, when I have lots of reading time and the weather outside is frightful (etc) – I was just starting to think about my reading for the upcoming holiday. Now I can let the spin pick for me!
