If you joined the game last week, find number 6 on your CC Spin #27 List! That’s the CLASSIC you are challenged to read by 22nd August, 2021. 

We know it can be hard to stay on track and enthused about your Spin Book for the whole journey. We plan to provide support and encouragement to all our CC Spinners via twitter, fb, instagram and goodreads. We hope you can join us in cheering everyone on to finish another fabulous classics reading experience!

If you’re struggling with your book, let us know. We’ll do everything we can to help you through. Perhaps one of your new moderators has read it, or we can link you up with another Classics Clubber who has.

As always, the prize is the reading experience.

  6. I got Robert Frost “A Boy’s Will” and “North of Boston” for my list.
    Probably a good thing, I doubt I would have read a poetry book any time soon.

  12. My number 6 is Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. I would not say I am thrilled but it will fulfill a prompt on the Back to the Classics challenge, and I am way behind on that challenge. And it is short and should be a good read.

    2. It’s really good. The dialect takes a little getting used to but it did not take me long to understand it. You could also try audio which often helps me if I’m having trouble with a book, many libraries have free audio downloads of books.

  17. My spin pick is A Few Green Leaves by Barbara Pym. It’s the only one of her books I haven’t read yet, so I’m very pleased! (Also it’s quite short, also a bonus). I’m looking forward to reading it. Thanks again for the Classics Spin!

  19. Righto, my number 6 is Charles Kingsley’s Hypatia. Kingsley is best known for his very curious literary fairytale The Water-Babies, but here he presents a fictional account of the life and death of a Hellenistic Neoplatonist philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician from 5th-century Alexandria, a woman torn to death by a savage mob whipped up by anti-pagan feelings and political intrigue. I hope I’ll get to the end by the deadline with this second attempt!
