Weekly Round-up for August 21, 2012.

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the weekly round-up post for August 21, 2012. Before we get started, I want to let everyone know of a small change we are making. Since these posts take a lot of time to put together, we’ve decided to make these bi-weekly posts. It will help us stay more organized and give us a little more time to make sure we get everything linked up. As you can imagine, getting all of the links in takes some time!

This week we have a lot of things to share with you, including some information about some wonderful events going on in the blog-o-sphere. As always, give our new members a big warm welcome and be sure to check out all the new reviews that have been added to our review list.

General Club News

We have been pouring over the amazing responses to the first edition of our new Monthly Meme. If you haven’t had a chance to post your response to our question, don’t worry! You have until the end of the month to do so. You can visit the August Monthly Meme post for more information.

On the tenth, we featured our first ever Classics Clubber of the Month-Fanda from Fanda ClassicLit! You can read my interview with her on that post. Don’t forget that you can nominate bloggers for future months by filling out this form.

We’re also still looking for posts to feature as our Post of the Month! Did you read something that knocked your socks off by a fellow club member? Fill out this form to nominate a post! The first one will launch later this week!

And, as always, if you ever have any questions, concerns, or comments about anything Club related, you can fill out this contact form and one of us will get back to you!

Events and Readalongs

There are a lot of great things going on in regards to events and readalongs. If you are looking for something to get more involved in the blogging community, participating in these kinds of things is a great way to do it!

First up, Adam’s Austen in August Event is winding down as the month is ending. There are a lot of great posts linked up at his site, so don’t miss them!

I also wanted to let you know about two great events that are launching in September. The first is hosted by Fanda of Fanda ClassicLit, and it is a readalong of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind. I know that it is a title on many Clubber’s reading lists, so perhaps this can be a good opportunity to read it with great company! I know that I loved the book when I read it!

You can find information about signing up for the readalong on this page.

I also wanted to let you know that Jenna of Lost Generation Reader is hosting a Harry Potter Readalong from September 1st to December 15th. While Harry Potter might not be considered classic literature to everyone, it is just plain fun, and you can’t argue that it has had a significant impact on reading culture!

You can find information about the readalong by visiting the sign-up page.

I also want to take a moment to remind you that you can find information about Classics Club sponsored readalongs and events by visiting our Event Page. I feel I should also mention that events that appear on our Events Page are those that have to do with Classics Clubbers and their lists. If you have an event that isn’t related to your Club list or is something not related to what we do here, we would still love to help you promote it by linking it in one of these posts. We want to be a supportive community, so don’t be shy if you want company tackling a math textbook (but, to be honest, I probably won’t join you, 😉 I am not a math person).

We’re all so excited by the response to the new site! We hope that this will continue to be a place to come together to read the classics.

This is the first installment of the Club’s Weekly Round-up posts. Each week, I’ll be here to recap events from the previous week-including reviews, new members, and anything else going on here on the site. Hopefully, this will prove to be an easy way to keep track of new reviews by your fellow Clubbers!

Since the site just launched, we have a slew of reviews and new members to announce (which is awesome!). Everything will be linked up below, so make sure to visit our newest members to welcome them and check out the new reviews. I’m sure you’ll find more books to add to your TBR.

General Club News

The first Monthly Meme was launched on August 2! There are already a number of posts linked up! Check it out and feel free to write your own post to link up.
