Ok, I am late. But I did it!
I read The Poor Little Rich Girl, by Eleanor Gates and let me tell you….I don’t think I would have finished it if I hadn’t committed myself to this Spin.

Yes I finished THE SECRET GARDEN. And let me tell you a secret. I didn’t care for it. The garden and flowers and children changing=good; the neglectful adults=bad. See if you agree with me or not: https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2022/04/classic-review-secret-garden.html

I loved mine — The Black Moth by Gerogette Heyer. I’m so glad I had the Classics Club to motivate me! https://bookshelffantasies.com/2022/04/02/book-review-the-black-moth-by-georgette-heyer/

Yes, I read Castle Rackrent by Maria Edgeworth and posted about it. It was an okay read, but sadly didn’t live up to my high hopes for it. One that’s maybe more famous for being a “first” – the first Irish novel – than for its actual quality…

I’m about a third of the way through my Spin book, House of Glass by the Indonesian writer Toer. It’s very good, but a massive reading slump hit me through most of April, so I’m playing catch up!

No. But I am not giving up. I will finish it next month and post about it. I know that’s not the point, but?…..

April was hectic, so I only started it a few days ago. I’m 32% in, and really loving it a lot so far: The Man in the Queue, by Josephine Tey. I’m surprised by a richness and variety of the vocabulary

Yes I did! I read A Room with a View and like it, although I didn’t enjoy it as much as his book, A Passage to India.

That’s too bad. I liked both, but it’s been a long time since I read either.

Yes, I read North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell – it was a bit of a slog but I did enjoy it.

I have read several by Gaskell, but for some reason I couldn’t finish North and South. I could tell that an innocent man was going to be accused of a crime, and I couldn’t stand the bad feeling it gave me.

What is your favorite Gaskell? I have North and South on my reading list. Perhaps I should switch it for another. Please answer me here. Thank you. THE SECRET GARDEN

I’ve only read Mary Barton, Cranford, and Wives and Daughters. I’d say Cranford.

I read The Passenger by Ulrich Boschwitz. The book had been lost for decades.
