Nick at One Catholic Life has chosen one book for 2020 for his Chapter-a-Day Read-Along: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. If you would like to join in, get a copy of the book. Then post about it on your blog. Download the daily schedule and commit to reading a chapter a day all year.

 

 

 

Karen at Books and Chocolate is hosting her seventh annual Back to the Classics Challenge. The deadline to sign up for the challenge is March 31, 2020. Find out more information about the challenge and sign up here.

 

The aim of the Nonfiction Reader Challenge is to encourage you to make nonfiction part of your reading experience during the year. The challenge will run from January 1st to December 31st 2020. Participants may join at any time until December 1st 2020. Create a blog post committing to your participation in this challenge. Link up at Book’d Out.

 

 

Keely at A Common Reader is hosting a Russian Literature Challenge for 2020.

Early 2020

 

Brona’s Books is hosting the Moby Dick Readalong beginning in August of 2019 and finishing at the end of February of 2020. She plans to try to read three to four chapters a week and then listen to the matching podcast episodes from the Moby Dick Big Read. Bron will put up a monthly post and provide encouragement for progress through the book. To let others know of your interest in joining in, leave a comment here and share on social media.

 

 

Classical Carousel is hosting The Iliad Read-along which runs from the beginning of January through the end of February of 2020.

 

 

 

Dolce Belleza is hosting the Japanese Literature Challenge, which will run from January to March.

 

 

 

 

 

Silvia Cachia and Great Book Study are hosting a 6-week read-along of One Hundred Years of Solitude beginning in March 2020.

 

 

 

 

Dewithon is an opportunity for book bloggers around the world to discover Welsh writers and their works (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, in fact anything written in English or Welsh with links to the nation of Wales). We will begin our 31 days of celebration on Sunday 1st March 2020 (St. David’s Day), with the first of four readalong posts scheduled for 7th March. There are plenty of useful links and reading suggestions at DHQ (Dewithon Headquarters) and in our Wales Readathon Library, but please don’t hesitate to ask for help if you are struggling to get started. You are free to read and write on any literary subject relating to Wales, but if you are one of those people who prefer a little structure to your readathons, I make the following suggestion: the English translation of Un Nos Ola Leuad (One Moonlit Night) by Caradog Prichard (1904-1980), a lost contemporary classic, felt by many to be in dire need of rediscovery.

 

Later in 2020

Words and Peace and The Emerald City Book Review will together host a readalong of Isaac Asimov’s classic science fiction novel, Foundation, in July.
