A New Beginning

Hello Clubbers!

Welcome to our shiny new Classics Club hosted by your brand new moderators Brona, Deb, Kay and Margaret.

We’re thrilled to have been given this opportunity to steer our much loved club into its next phase. We’re bursting with enthusiasm and new ideas and can’t wait to get stuck in.

A HUGE thank you to Adam, in particular, for his time in guiding us through this transition phase. We’re honoured to join such an inspiring team of bloggers who have volunteered their time over the years to establish, grow and maintain such a large community-based site. Jillian, Heather, Adam, Allie, Melissa, and Sarah – the classics blogging world is forever in your debt.

Thank you also to all our wonderful blogging friends who have taken the time to welcome the four of us here, on twitter, instagram & on our own blogs. We hope you continue your classics journey with us. We’d love to hear any fabulous ideas you might have for the future direction of The Classics Club.

A brief survey has been included below to help us get a better feel for who is still visiting the blog or engaging with the club on social media. We welcome any ideas and suggestions. Tell us what you love (or not) about the club and how you like to participate in classics related events (or not).

We have a brand new Instagram page and Pinterest account, as well as our Twitter handle, Facebook page and Goodreads group.

In coming weeks, look out for a new look on the blog, regular weekly posts, and the next CC Spin (wahoo!)

We’d love to hear from you and get to know you all better. Please leave a comment below or say ‘hi’ on social media.

Classics Club Survey

  1. If we’re gonna got quotin Tolkien (sorta almost rhymes), I’m gonna have to become a bigger fan of The Classics Club. Just not sure how I’ll do that. Perhaps a tattoo with the URL across my belly?

    1. One of your new mods may or may not have reread all their Tolkien’s last year & may or may not be still in thrall of all things Middle Earth and hobbits 🙂

  2. Welcome to the new moderators! Thank you so much for keeping this going!

As per usual I’m getting to this late, but I just took the survey and read your bios, and am very looking forward to the new era of the classics club (even though I only just joined in 2017).

I never participate in the spins (so far) because I’m sort of stuck on a reading schedule of the Modern Library Top 100 list from 100 to 1, but I look forward to any other events that may be coming up 🙂

  3. Thanks for taking over as moderators! Welcome and thanks again. I am really excited about the IG presence too. I haven’t been a CC member or blogger that long but I’ve meet some great people now because of the CC!

  5. Looking forward to watching your progress and cheering you on! And a spin – woohoo!! (Those last moderators kept picking numbers for rotten books – I’m sure you’ll only spin numbers for great ones… 😉 )

        1. I worked on my spin list last night. It makes me nervous because I already have a few classics planned for August so the question is should I include them and *hope* it’s the number of the spin pick? Or should not include them and potentially read all classics for the month of August? 😊😂

  7. Welcome to the new moderators! I look forward to joining in as I can. I’m not the typical ‘classics’ member. I enjoy ‘classic’ mystery and crime novels, but I have tweaked my ‘classics’ list to suit my tastes. However, I like hearing about other members’ experiences. Good luck!
