Hello, friends! Here’s the fourth check-in for the 2016 Women’s Classic Literature Event. We would love to know how you’re doing for this project? Have you discovered still more forgotten titles? Or are you getting to know one of the women writers who are prized already in the canon, like Virginia Woolf? What’s your favorite read for the event so far? Hosting any upcoming readalongs?

If you’ve read some great titles or written some great posts for this event, please feel free to share them below. You can also share your events below, if you’re hosting a group read for a title by a classic female author. Or you can ask if anyone wants to buddy read with you. Thanks so much for participating!   2. In Spetember and October I really managed to take a stack out of my women lit. TBR. The Coquette, The Blazing World, Cranford, Lieutenant Nun (a memorie written by a nun who dressed as a man and travelled to The New World) and The House of Ulloa. Hopefully I’ll be done with The Saga of Gosta Berling by Selma Lagerlöf, today or tomorrow. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in litterature. I’ve also read two of Gaskelle’s novellas Mr Harrison’s Confessions and The Doom of the Griffiths. I’m suprised how versitile Mrs. Gaskell is in her writing. Looking forward for more of her scary stories now around Halloween.

    As for the most memorable scene from one of them it has to be how someone deals with their cow suddenly loosing all their fur. XD I’ll let you try and guess which of the books that’s from. It’s one of the ones I have mentioned.

  5. I finally finished Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen. I started it in July so it was getting to the point of hanging over my head. To date I’ve read 8 classics written by female authors. I will get one more since I got Little Women for my spin book this month.

  6. Over the last 3 months I have read Mr Harrison’s Confessions by Elizabeth Gaskell which means I have read 7 books for the event, so far. I will have an update post up soon with the answer to the October group question in it 🙂
