  1. Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendia was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice.
This is one of the best opening lines I’ve encountered….from what I’m currently: One-Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

  2. I’m reading an Australian classic by Elizabeth Harrower called The Watch Tower.
It’s getting creepy & disturbing – love it!

    1. Definitely a classic! And definitely wonderful 🙂
There’s a wonderful old B&W movie with Sydney Greenstreet & Claude Raines – also well worth the watch.

  3. This week I read Jack London’s To Build a Fire, a short story. I listened to the audio and watched the film. Beautifully done. There is something about being stranded in the snow that is so frightening and this story really hits.

  4. Good morning everyone! Right now I’m reading Tess of the d’Ubervilles by Thomas Hardey, which goes along with this month’s Victorian theme. I didn’t really care for the last Victorian book I read but this one is much better.
