All right, clubbers! Back in early May, we announced The Classics Spin #6, challenging you to read Book #1 on your spin list by July 7. Today is July 7!
Did you read your book? Did you write about it, or will you?
What was your book, and what did you think? Share below. Feel free to link to your post below, as and when you write about your book.
As always, the prize is the reading experience. Details here.

Uhm…it is November 4, 2014 (at least within the same calendar year!) and I just posted my review of Doris Lessing’s The Golden Notebook (http://books-n-music.blogspot.com/2014/11/classics-club-spin-6.html). This was quite an accomplishment on my part. Not necessarily an enjoyable read, but definitely enlightening. I can’t imagine reading it in 1962 when first published!

I read The Winter’s Tale by Shakespeare. I knew the story but it was one of his plays that I hadn’t actually read yet! http://www.literarylindsey.com/2014/07/review-winters-tale.html

I drew Canterbury Tales which I’ve discovered is not something I can read in chinks. So I am only a quarter of the way through.

Good luck!
I’ve picked this up a few times over the years, but didn’t get very far.

I finished my spin book several weeks ago. It was my first exposure to Roald Dahl, and his books are now “required reading” at my house. http://mybookstrings.com/2014/07/06/matilda/

Oh, a thumbs up for Dahl?! I left him off my children’s book list but perhaps I should re-consider.

I read some comments that objected to the violence in this book, but it didn’t bother me.

I’m glad to hear that you liked it. I’ve been avoiding Atwood so your positive comment makes me more open to reading her works.

Oh, isn’t this a wonderfully told story! You might like to read Angela Carters short story about Lizzie Borden too as another example of an urban mystery reinterpreted.
