I failed miserably at this task. I read the first page and that’s it. 😦 Too much working.

I made it this time – just sneaking in with a few days to spare. My spin book was The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene – absolutely fabulous book. Thanks for pushing me to read it. Here’s my review http://bookertalk.com/2013/12/30/the-power-and-the-glory-by-graham-greene-book-review/

I completely failed at this. I started with good intentions – I looked at Catch-22, opened the pages a little, flicked through slightly and then lost all interest. Perhaps it wasn’t the right time to tackle a book that intimidates me. Next time!

I still have ~200 pages of my #10, St. Augustine’s City of God, left to read. (I’m reading an abridged version, so this is less impressive than it might have been.) I think I would have finished it, but I was overly ambitious and took on the spin the same month I was reading Ulysses for Roof Beam Reader’s read-along. But I finished Ulysses (and blogged about it), so I don’t feel too bad about not finishing Augustine yet.

I’m excited that I finished my spin book this time – and actually blogged about it! The Ballad of the Sad Cafe by Carson McCullers was wonderfully-written and so very heart-wrenching… Here’s my review: http://readthegamut.wordpress.com/2013/12/24/book-review-the-ballad-of-the-sad-cafe-by-carson-mccullers-the-classics-club-spin/

I sort of changed what I was doing – I really wanted to read to two of the books that I had on my spin list that did not get chosen, so I did read them. 😦 I didn’t read my spin book, but I did finish two books from my 50 book list.
Here they are:

I did finish, and my spin book was Les Miserables, so I feel very proud of myself! Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the book as much as I hoped.
