Hi clubbers!! We’re excited to be posting our December meme question for the club!
Here’s the question this month:
Let’s do this again: What is your favorite classic book? If you already answered this question in August 2012, great! Tell us what you picked then, and if your answer has changed in the last year and a half. If you are new since that meme, what is your favorite classic as of today? (Yes, you can of course list multiple books.) 🙂
Feel free to answer over at your blog any time in December, and leave the link to your post in the Mister Linky widget below.
(Answers can be as thorough or brief as you like, but let’s share and connect, eh?)
(linky to be added)
Remember to check out this page for details! And then check out one another’s posts! 🙂

Pushing towards the end of December here but I’ve listed my top 5 in this post: http://www.litnerd.co.uk/2013/12/classics-club-meme-december.html#.UrxLp6VtdmA
In the end, it was surprisingly easy to decide on my favourites, even if I can’t narrow it down to just one.

Yeah, I have a lot of favorites. And I just picked from this year. It was a problem. 🙂 http://howlingfrog.blogspot.com/2013/12/classics-club-december-meme.html

I joined only recently. However, I think my answer would have been the same back in August 2012. My favorite classic novel, since I was about seventeen is Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo’. http://bookheathen.wordpress.com/2013/09/05/confession-time/
But like Brona, I love Austen’s wit and shrewd understanding of what makes people tick. Did you ever read her ‘History of England’, Brona?

Persuasion is my favorite Austen too! In fact I’m re-reading it now, because a mystery I read reminded me of it. 🙂

Since it is so hard to choose just one classic, I decided to choose my favourite classic from this year, 2013, and I chose The Divine Comedy. It was an amazing read! Here is my post: http://cleoclassical.blogspot.ca/2013/12/the-classics-club-december-meme.html

My absolute favorite classic is East of Eden. I love love love this mammoth book and have read it twice already. I plan to read a third time next year. I read it slowly and savor the words.

East of Eden is one of my “I must get to this” books. Reading Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” in high school did not make me want to read more of his novels. But I realize I’m being closed-minded and I’ve heard so many good things about East of Eden that I must give it a whirl!

This is one of my favourites too, but Jane Austen still triumphs 🙂

I have never been able to finish a Jane Austin book. Maybe someday.
